Glass Damage We Replace

Coach glass usually breaks because something hit it. Glass replacement is one part of our broader RV body work services, and when the same impact damaged the body around the opening, our accident repair team handles both together.

Highway rock strikes and road debris
Collision and front-end impact damage
Hail damage to windshields and side glass
Chips that have spread into running cracks
Cracks reaching the edge of the glass
Damage in the driver's line of sight
Glass cracked by body or frame flex
Leaking or failed glass seals after an impact

Replacement or Repair?

Not every cracked windshield needs replacing, and it is worth knowing which side of the line your damage falls on before you book anything.

Replacement, what we do here

Glass that is cracked edge to edge, broken through both laminate layers, damaged in the driver's sight line, or shattered in a collision has to come out. That is impact and accident work, it usually arrives with body damage around the opening, and it is what this page covers.

Chip and crack repair

A small contained chip or a short crack away from the edges can often be filled instead of replaced, which is faster and keeps the original factory seal intact. That work is handled by our sibling shop: RV and motorcoach glass repair at 24/7 Motorcoach Service Center.

How RV Glass Replacement Works

1

Damage Assessment

We look at the break itself and the opening around it. On an impact this is also where hidden damage turns up: a bent frame flange, a cracked cap, or a seal that has been compromised well beyond the visible break.

2

Glass Sourcing

Coach glass is ordered to your make, model, and year, and many Class A coaches take a two-piece windshield rather than a single pane. We confirm the correct glass is available before we schedule the work.

3

Removal and Opening Prep

The damaged glass comes out, the old urethane is cut away, and the pinch weld is cleaned and checked for corrosion. A new windshield set onto a poorly prepped opening is where most leaks start.

4

Installation and Sealing

The new glass is set with a fresh urethane bead and any trim, molding, or divider hardware is reinstalled, so the opening ends up sealed the way the coach builder intended.

5

Cure and Water Test

The urethane gets its full cure before the coach is driven, and we water test the opening before delivery. On a coach a leaking windshield does not just drip, it feeds water into the wall underneath.

Why Replace Coach Glass at a Body Shop

Built for Coach Size

RV windshields are larger and heavier than automotive glass and sit in an opening that flexes with the coach. Our bays and equipment are sized for motorhomes, not adapted from car work.

The Damage Around the Glass

An impact hard enough to break a windshield usually did something to the cap, molding, or frame as well. We repair the opening and the body around it in the same shop instead of setting new glass into damaged structure.

Sealed Against Water

Every opening is prepped, sealed, and water tested before delivery, because on an RV a failed glass seal turns into wall and floor damage rather than a puddle on the dash.

Insurance Claim Support

Glass is often its own line on an RV policy. We document the damage and its cause the way an adjuster needs it and provide a free itemized estimate before any work begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Replacement is the answer once the damage is too large or too badly placed to be filled. A crack that has reached the edge of the glass, damage sitting in the driver's line of sight, a break that has penetrated both layers of laminated glass, or a chip that has already spread into running cracks all point to replacement rather than a fill. Small, contained chips and short cracks away from the edges can often be repaired instead, which is work our sibling shop handles.

Most of what we replace comes from impact. Highway rock strikes are the single most common cause, especially at coach speeds and coach windshield size. Collisions and low-speed front-end impacts crack or dislodge glass along with the surrounding body work. Hail cracks windshields outright on a coach because of the glass area involved. Desert heat also matters: a small chip that survived the winter can run into a full crack the first time a cold morning meets a hot afternoon.

Yes, in ways that change the job. Many Class A coaches use a two-piece windshield with a center divider rather than a single pane, and the glass is sourced by coach make, model, and year rather than off a common parts shelf. The openings are larger, heavier, and bonded into a body structure that flexes differently than a car's. That is why coach glass is set and sealed as a body job rather than a quick automotive swap.

It depends on your policy and the cause. Glass broken by a rock strike, storm, hail, or collision is commonly handled under comprehensive or collision coverage, and some policies treat glass differently from other damage. Because coverage varies more on glass than on most repairs, we document the damage and its cause the way an adjuster needs it and are glad to walk through what your policy is likely to cover before you file.

The timeline is driven by two things: sourcing the correct glass for your specific coach, which is the longest and least predictable part, and cure time, since the urethane bonding the glass to the body has to set before the coach is safe to drive. We confirm glass availability before scheduling and give you a written timeline with your estimate rather than a guess up front.

Yes. We regularly handle coaches from Summerlin, Centennial Hills, Henderson, and North Las Vegas, along with the rest of the valley. Because a cracked windshield can spread with every mile and every temperature swing, call before driving a long way in, and we can tell you whether your damage is stable enough to travel on.

Yes. Alongside windshields we handle side glass, door glass, and compartment glass on motorhomes and coaches. Damage from a collision often takes out more than the windshield, so we assess the full opening and the body around it rather than quoting the one obviously broken pane.

It should not, and that is mostly about how the opening is prepared. Old urethane has to come out, the pinch weld has to be clean and free of corrosion, and the new glass has to be set with the right bead and given the full cure. We water test the opening before your coach leaves, because on an RV a bad glass seal does not just drip, it feeds water into the wall below it.
